Heritage of Innovation
From the pioneering vision to create fibers from glass, to realizing their vast potential to transform markets on land, sea and in space, Owens Corning has been a model of innovative thinking for 76 years.
The story of Owens Corning begins in the 1930’s when an experiment with glass building blocks produced a surprising result – it revealed a way to make glass fibers in commercial quantities. That “accidental” discovery launched more than a new product. It set in motion a world-changing series of events that included the birth of Owens Corning and the spawning of new industries related to the production of fiberglass materials.
Owens Corning’s very first product was a revolution in the air handling industry – a more efficient and less expensive fiberglass furnace filter. In fact, the company is also credited with the invention of flex duct and duct board – products that paved the way for decades of innovation and quality which Johnstone Supply and its customers can rely on today and for decades to come.
